SHARJAH TATWEER FORUM DELEGATION VISITS KINGSTON HOLDINGS CORPORATE FACILITIES AT SAIF ZONE, FOCUS ON CHALLENGES IN MANUFACTURING AND QUALITY STANDARDS FOR EXPORTS

20 July, 2013, Sharjah, UAE: Challenges and processes in manufacturing and the compliance to international quality standards for exporters came up for a strong discussion when a select delegation of the key members of the Sharjah Tatweer Forum (STF) visited the corporate manufacturing facilities of Kingston Holdings FZC at the Saif Zone, Sharjah.

Sharjah Tatweer Forum (Tatweer) is a non-profit independent entity established in May of 2005 by an Emiri Decree (29-2005) by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and the Honorary Chairman of Tatweer.  The Forum aims to contribute to the progress and the sustainable development of the Emirate of Sharjah through enabling young leaders; supporting the implementation of viable projects and the productive interaction with society to achieve a better future based on the cultural heritage of Sharjah.

Addressing the delegation at the joint conference with key executives from Admin, Marketing, Logistics and Manufacturing for the group, Mr. Lalu Samuel, CMD, Kingston Holdings FZC stated, “We are honoured to receive the high level delegation from the STF at our facilities. Kingston Holdings has come a long way from its launch in 1996. From an initial setup, our group has grown organically by building Joint Ventures with world class brands like Pierlite Australia, GP Batteries Hong Kong, Glen Dimplex Ireland and Rexton Technologies UK, and inorganically through acquisitions.”

Kingston Holdings’ latest acquisition consists of the major PVC conduit manufacturing plant from Schneider Electric. Mr. Samuel says, “This plant acquisition has made us a major player in the PVC conduits industry in the Mena Region, with an output capacity of 350 kms per day of conduits.”  The delegation was also addressed by Mr. S. Lourduraj, Manufacturing Head on the Quality control process. The delegates visited the manufacturing facilities for PVC conduits, group manufacturing facilities for various JV brands, quality control and plant automation centre, tool room facilities and warehousing and logistics setup with an insight into advance quality control measures like Kaizen being followed at the group.

Mr. Samuel, who is also the Chairman - Sharjah Industry Business Group, which represents over 1700 high profile industries across Sharjah, remarked on the strong presence and contribution of the industries in Sharjah to the industrial sector. Commenting to questions on Quality Control challenges, he remarked, “As regional exporters, we need to meet the QC test standards for each country / market we work with as per their specific standards. Thus, the quality standards and involvement with our products is extremely high”.
